Pozn.: Micheal Casey was an Irish-American comic monologuer who was around from the mid 1910s to the mid 1920s. He only recorded around 10 records in his career. He started in 1915 on Regal records, (before it became Regal-Zonophone) and would record a few more, before going to Columbia. He would still stay on Regal for the most part. In late 1916 he would record one record on His Masters Voice before returning to Columbia. He would stay on Columbia until 1925, recording one last on Regal before quitting from the record industry. He had no hits. Steve Porter was one of the first actual recording artists who recorded more than just a few records, and he recorded from farther back as well. He was also a popular baritone. Sometimes going with a pseudonym Gilbert Holt, and also performed with The Peerless Quartet, The American Quartet, and his own short lived band called Steve Porter & Company. He started out originally on Emile Berliner’s label, yes the first disc 78s ever, back in 1897. After Berliner went under and the turn of the century came along, he would be picked up by Columbia in 1906. He would stay on Columbia until 1909 when he would start recording on Victor as well. around 1915, he would reach his prime, and lose it. He would stop recording as much, and around 1920 he would start jumping labels. Labels like Gennett, Radiex, Silvertone, Pathe, and Brunswick. Then as the 1920s came along, so did the Dime stores, He would record up until 1932, way past his time. He had several hits over his career, Little Brown Jug in 1900, Flanagan’s Night Out in 1906, An Evening at Mrs Clancy’s Boarding House in 1907, and A Bird In A Gilded Cage in 1900.
